Port Hueneme Chamber Supports Brac ’95
The Port Hueneme Chamber of Commerce has voted to support Brac ‘95, a task force formed to keep Navy installations in Ventura County. But the chamber’s directors stopped short of making a financial contribution to the effort.
A contribution isn’t possible at this time, chamber directors said.
Brac ’95 is made up of defense contractors, government officials and others who are concerned about the potential impact of closing the bases at Hueneme and Point Mugu.
The group says the endangered bases provide thousands of jobs and pump more than $1 billion annually into Ventura County’s economy.
