ORANGEBURG, S.C. — A man who shot and killed a champion hunting dog while it was treeing a raccoon must pay the owner $10,000 and serve five years’ probation.
Samuel Claymoorer said he shot Ranger in January because he thought the dog was going after his hogs. He pleaded guilty last week to a dog-killing charge and apologized in court to the dog’s owner, Clyde McGinnis.
