VENTURA : AIDS Care Grant for Women and Children
- Share via
Hoping to target some of the most vulnerable victims of the AIDS epidemic, the federal government has awarded the Ventura County health department a $73,804 grant for serving women and children affected by the disease.
The county’s Public Health Department plans to use the money in collaboration with local private and nonprofit agencies to design programs for youngsters and women who either have acquired immune deficiency syndrome or are at risk of contracting it.
Some of the money will go first toward examining the needs of the AIDS victims and the agencies that serve them.
County health officials will also use the funds to study communities that already have comprehensive services in place for people with AIDS.
