‘Road’ to the Top

Though her album, “Stones in the Road” is more pop than country, Mary Chapin Carpenter is still dominating in the country market, topping both The Times’ Southern California country chart and the national country chart. As expected, Nirvana’s album “Unplugged In New York” debuted at the top of both the Southern California and the national pop charts. The Kurt Cobain mystique lives on. Madonna’s album “Bedtime Stories” is still going strong, slipping just two notches to No. 4 on the regional pop chart.
