La Canada 24, South Pasadena 14--Junior running back Sam Paneno ran 34 times for 269 yards and two touchdowns at La Canada to keep the Spartans’ slim playoff hopes alive.
Paneno scored on runs of one and 15 yards for La Canada (4-6, 2-3).
La Canada quarterback James Wolstenholme completed five of nine passes for 105 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown pass to Matt Lievense.
Nathan Kotua, an exchange student from New Zealand playing in only his fourth game of American football for South Pasadena (1-9, 0-5), ran back a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown. Kotua also caught seven passes for 91 yards.
