Maybe If They Switched to Soda Pop: Oshkosh B’Gosh Inc. said it will close its Dover, Tenn., plant because of falling demand for denim garments. Cutting and sewing will be consolidated at two plants in Columbia, Ky. About 270 jobs will be eliminated in Tennessee. “As we see our consumer demand shift toward comfortable knit tops, bottoms and dresses, we are faced with the challenge of further realigning our manufacturing resources to meet these needs,” said Michael Wachtel, chief operating officer. The Oshkosh, Wis., firm makes children’s and menswear.
