MADRAS, India — A raging cyclone that lashed two south Indian states has killed at least 192 people over the past week, officials said Monday.
About 54 people were killed by the cyclone and heavy rains in Tamil Nadu state, minister S.D. Somasundaram told lawmakers in the state Assembly.
In neighboring Andhra Pradesh, which shares the Bay of Bengal coastline, 138 people died in collapsing buildings and flash floods that cut off roads and damaged irrigation channels.
