COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Golden West Gains Share of Volleyball Title

The Golden West women’s volleyball team clinched a share of its eighth consecutive Orange Empire Conference title with a 15-1, 15-10, 15-8 victory over Saddleback Friday at Golden West.

The Rustlers (16-2, 9-0), ranked second in the state, won their 99th consecutive conference match. Christine Heims had 12 kills for Golden West. Saddleback, ranked 10th in the state, is 11-4, 7-3.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:

Cypress 1, Palomar 1--Cypress (13-0-1, 11-0-1) had won 35 consecutive conference games before tying at Palomar. Tracy Van Herk scored Cypress’ goal in the first half. The Chargers lead Palomar (11-4-3, 9-2-2) by two games in the loss column with four left.
