LOS ALAMITOS : City Council Appoints 2 to Fine Arts and Cultural Commission Seats
- Share via
The City Council has appointed Heidi Holzinger and Jim Ashcraft to fill two seats on the city’s Fine Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission.
Holzinger and Ashcraft will serve until Jan. 31, but are likely to be reappointed for three more years.
City Clerk Donna Velin said that the council normally reappoints committee and commission members who have served out unexpired terms.
The seven-member Fine Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission is responsible for holding the city’s annual photo contest, an art show and other cultural events. The panel meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the council chambers.
One seat is still vacant, Velin said. Former commission members Kathi Volzke and Donna Overby have moved out of the city, and Althea Miller has been appointed director of Los Alamitos Television.
City policy prohibits residents from serving on two committees or commissions.
The other commission members are Leo Greene, Darleen Ortlieb, Donna McDonnell and student representative Michael Zilliox.
