NORTH HOLLYWOOD — A car that was abandoned on the train tracks was struck and destroyed by a Metrolink train Thursday, authorities said.
The train, traveling about 65 m.p.h., hit the car at 6 p.m. at the Coldwater Canyon Avenue crossing near Raymer Street and pushed it for about a quarter of a mile, Metrolink spokesman Peter Hidalgo said.
“The engineer saw the car on the center of the tracks and blew his horn but it wouldn’t move,” he said.
The train, bound for Moorpark from Union Station, was delayed for half an hour. No one was injured, Hidalgo said.
