LANCASTER — An 8-year-old boy and two teen-agers were arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of stealing $4,500 worth of construction materials and causing $20,000 in vandalism at a new Lancaster housing tract, authorities said.
The 8-year-old and a 15-year-old were released to their parents after they were booked for investigation of burglary and vandalism. The third boy, 14, was being held at the San Fernando Juvenile Hall on unrelated charges, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Wood.
Authorities said all three boys allegedly knocked out windows, smashed roof tiles and broke water pipes at a housing tract being built by Encino-based Larwin Construction in the 1800 block of W. Avenue H-8 in Lancaster more than two weeks ago, Wood said. Graffiti also had been sprayed on some of the houses in the tract, he said.
