LOS ANGELES : March Planned to Protest Immigration Initiative

Tens of thousands of demonstrators are expected to march Sunday from the Eastside to Downtown in protest of Proposition 187, the state initiative that would bar education, social services and non-emergency health care to illegal immigrants.
City workers will close off the intersection of 1st and Spring streets at 4 a.m. Sunday to construct a stage.
These streets will be closed from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Main Street between Aliso and 2nd streets; Spring Street between Cesar Chavez Avenue and 2nd Street; 1st and Temple streets between Broadway and Los Angeles Street; Lorena Street between 1st and Indiana streets, and Cesar Chavez between Indiana and Spring streets.
