A 17-year-old boy who was stabbed to death at a Malibu beach Tuesday morning has been identified as Abel Silva of Jalisco, Mexico. Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday they were releasing his name because they have been unable to locate any relatives and hope that someone will now come forward.
Silva, who officials said had been either visiting or seeking work in the United States, was attacked by six men at approximately 12:10 a.m. as he sat with a friend at Topanga State Beach. He died about half an hour later at Santa Monica Hospital, sheriff’s deputies said. The unidentified companion was not harmed. Investigators said they have not established a motive. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at (213) 890-5500.
