OXNARD : Post Office Expands Passport Service

Ventura County residents applying for passports at Oxnard’s Main Post Office may face shorter lines.
Beginning in October, passports will be processed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Postmaster Ray Chavira said. The office now accepts passport applications only on Fridays.
“Since a lot of the cities in the county stopped doing passports, people from all over come here,” Chavira said. “People needed this added service.”
He estimated that about 140 people come to the office each week to apply for passports or to have one renewed.
“People were waiting an unacceptable period of time, usually half an hour or more,” Chavira said.
New passports cost $65 and are valid for 10 years.
