ANAHEIM — A 30-year-old Yorba Linda man was killed Saturday night when he apparently drove through a red light at a busy intersection and was hit by another car. The collision sent the victim’s car careening into a signpost, police said.
The victim, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was driving alone in a 1985 blue Dodge Colt westbound on Orangethorpe Avenue about 9 p.m. when he entered the intersection at Lakeview Avenue against the red light and was hit by a 1991 Honda driven by Trudy Elaine Wilson, 44, of Yorba Linda, police said. The man’s vehicle then hit a speed limit sign, police said.
The man suffered massive head and internal injuries and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced dead at 9:52 p.m., police said.
Neither Wilson nor her passengers were injured, police said.
No citations or arrests have been made and an investigation of the incident is underway, police said. Anyone who witnessed the traffic accident is being asked to call Investigator Chuck O’Connor at (714) 254-1835.
