YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Skieresz, 1993 State Division I cross-country champion, sat out her junior track season to raise her grades to her parents’ standards. The layoff does not appear to have hurt. On Saturday, she opened the season with a runaway victory in the senior race of the Seaside Invitational at San Buenaventura State Beach in Ventura.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Skieresz won by 59 seconds and her time of 17 minutes 21 seconds over the three-mile distance moved her to fourth on the all-time course list. “I hadn’t raced in so long so I just wanted to get out there and see how it felt,” Skieresz said. “I really had no expectations at all about times.”
