Benjamin Lionel Rolfe; Jurist, Poet and Artist

Benjamin Lionel Rolfe, 79, a workers’ compensation judge in Los Angeles, Inglewood and Long Beach. He was also a poet, photographer and artist who regularly displayed his work at conventions of the State Bar of California. He married twice, first to pianist Yaltah Menuhin, sister of violinist Yehudi Menuhin, and later to Adelina Valazza. Rolfe was a native of Minneapolis and studied at the University of Minnesota law school. During the 1940s, he served in the Army adjutant general’s office, rising to the rank of captain. On Aug. 23 in Anaheim of prostate cancer.
