Lenaerts Making Strides Toward Recovery, Family Says

The mother of La Quinta football player Aron Lenaerts, who lapsed into a coma last week during practice, says her son has begun walking and appears on the road to a full recovery.
“I think he’s improving every hour,” said Bonnie Lenaerts. “He’s not hooked to any IVs or machines; the only thing (doctors) have to give him is some Tylenol for a headache, and it’s like a regular headache. Every day he’s more alert for longer periods of time.”
Lenaerts collapsed on Friday during a contact drill and came out of a coma Saturday at UCI Medical Center; he began walking Tuesday afternoon, his mother said.
