*** Edie Brickell, “Picture Perfect Morning,” Geffen. Never mind Michael and Lisa Marie--here’s Brickell with hubby Paul Simon, whose versatile production puts several new spins on Brickell’s airy voice and bohemian songs. Most surprising are a few pleasant forays into classic soul ballad territory, with perhaps the ultimate odd coupling on “Good Times,” a silky number with a guest appearance by basso romantico Barry White.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
