United Way Looking for Volunteers
United Way of Ventura County is seeking volunteers to fan out across the county in a one-day campaign to clean trails, pack food and help elderly residents.
The campaign, called Day of Caring, is scheduled for Sept. 10. Volunteers will meet at 7:30 a.m. at either the Food Share headquarters in Oxnard or at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
After a continental breakfast, volunteers will go to one of the project sites, where they will work from 9 to noon. Projects include cleaning trails in Ojai, picking up litter in county parks, doing errands for senior citizens and packing supplies for Food Share.
This is the sixth annual Day of Caring. About 600 people volunteered last year, and United Way officials said they expect the same or more this year.
To participate in the campaign, residents should call United Way at 485-6288.
