Daily Updates on Western Fires

Five Western states are pooling information to provide daily updates on the forest fires raging across that region.
Travelers calling (800) 704-3246 can obtain the latest news on the status of recreation areas, road closures and warnings in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana and Wyoming. As of midweek press-time, the recording for Idaho--site of the greatest number of fires--was the longest, running nearly five minutes. Also in the recording, each state provides several telephone numbers to call for more information.
