BUENA PARK — Two teen-agers were wounded by gunshots late Saturday night as they stood outside a fast-food restaurant known as a popular hangout for youngsters, police said Sunday.
Agripino Reynaldo Abat Jr., 19, of La Mirada and Roseller Alverado, 18, of Garden Grove were shot about 10:40 p.m. at a Taco Bell at 7878 Valley View Ave., Sgt. Phil Dascenzi said.
The two young men were driven to a nearby residence and police were called, he said.
Abat was taken to La Palma Intercommunity Hospital and Alverado was taken by helicopter to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, Dascenzi said.
Details of the shooting were sketchy. Dascenzi said police had not yet determined whether the incident was gang-related.
“There were tons of witnesses and nobody knows who did what,” Dascenzi said. “We don’t know who were suspects and who were onlookers.”
He described the fast-food restaurant as a hangout for teen-agers and said much of the crowd dispersed after the shooting.
No suspects had been identified and police were continuing their investigation.
