THOUSAND OAKS : Bank Robber Eludes Sheriff’s Deputies

A man who said he had a knife robbed a Thousand Oaks bank about 12:45 p.m. Monday, then eluded sheriff’s deputies who searched the area by ground and air, authorities said.
Witnesses said the man entered the First Interstate Bank on North Moorpark Road, told a teller he had a knife and demanded cash. After placing the cash in a blue bag, he walked out the door. No vehicle was seen.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived about four minutes later and sealed off the area. But a search by patrol deputies and a flyover by a sheriff’s helicopter failed to turn up the robber, who was described as a red-haired white man in his mid 20s, wearing a blue baseball cap, jeans and a white T-shirt.
The man was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed about 180 pounds, investigators said.
