World IN BRIEF : SWITZERLAND : N. Korea, U.S. Meet; More Talks Set

In a first test of North Korean nuclear intentions since the death of Kim Il Sung, the United States and North Korea held eight hours of talks in Geneva but reported no breakthroughs. The negotiations are meant to persuade North Korea to open up nuclear facilities to full international inspections in return for some form of diplomatic recognition and technical aid. Officials said no agreements were reached, and the two delegations adjourned until Monday.
