New Image Industries Inc., a Canoga Park-based maker of dental cameras, announced it will be acquired by Dentsply International Inc., a Des Plaines, Ill., company that makes a range of dental products.
Dentsply will pay $16.38 a share for New Industries in a deal valued at $91.6 million. The acquisition, subject to the approval of the stockholders of both companies and their boards of directors, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 1994.
Roger Leddington, chief executive of New Image, said the company will enjoy enhanced credibility by being associated with the Dentsply name, and he added that operations in Canoga Park will not be affected by the purchase. New Image makes and markets dental intra-oral cameras and related imaging systems. The company had sales of $32 million for the fiscal year ended June 30.
Dentsply manufactures dental products including X-ray equipment, cutting instruments and artificial teeth. The company had sales of $553 million last year.
