KMEX (Channel 34), the Spanish-language station, scored a ratings victory Tuesday over all English-language L.A. stations from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. with its coverage of the Mexico-Bulgaria game.
The game posted a 7.1 Nielsen rating and a 17 share, the best for KMEX in its 33-year history, and reached 355,000 households. It peaked during the dramatic finish, when Bulgaria won on penalty kicks, getting an 8.5 rating and reaching 425,000 households.
In Latino households, the game got a 43.7 rating and a 73 share, meaning it was seen in seven of 10 households where television was being watched. The Latino rating peaked at 48 during the final 15 minutes.
