PALMDALE — A 41-year-old man was fatally shot early Monday by a gunman who walked up to his car and demanded money, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said.
Eron Alonzo Mallagon of Palmdale was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene of the 2:05 a.m. shooting, Deputy Irma Becerra said.
The shooting occurred shortly after Mallagon and a friend began driving home from El Charro bar. Mallagon stopped in the 38300 block of North 11th Street East when it appeared a motorist was following him.
A man with a gun got out of the other vehicle, opened Mallagon’s door and demanded money, Becerra said. When Mallagon resisted, the gunman shot him, ran back to his car and fled, she said.
The passenger in Mallagon’s car, whom authorities declined to identify for his safety, was uninjured, Becerra said.
