To celebrate its designation as the best sewage treatment plant around, the Simi Valley Sanitation District will hold an open house this Thursday.
The plant, which serves the city of Simi Valley, beat competitors in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties for the honor of best sewage treatment facility, bestowed by the California Water Pollution Control Assn.
On Thursday, officials will give free tours of the district’s Water Quality Control Plant, fresh from a 10-year, $26.6-million overhaul.
Visitors will be able to tour the plant every hour between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The plant is located at 600 W. Los Angeles Ave. For more information, call 583-0393.
