Immigration agents Monday arrested a deportee in Virginia who Los Angeles detectives want to question about the murder of Manhattan Beach police officer.
The 25-year-old man “is not considered a suspect” in the Dec. 27 killing of Martin Ganz, but “he has similar features described in the composite (drawing of the killer) and in one of the clues received by the task force” of investigators, said George Ducoulombier, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
The task force investigating the crime has received more than 1,800 tips, Ducoulombier said.
The man was arrested on a no-bail warrant from California for failing to leave the country, Ducoulombier said.
Ganz’s killer is described as an Asian, possibly Filipino, age 25 to 39, and possibly 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build.
