The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is holding a competition for young artists in which the winning drawings and murals will be displayed on MTA buses.
The competition, open to Los Angeles County residents ages 13 to 23, is part of an MTA effort to cut down on graffiti.
“The program was developed by 30 young people . . . to recognize local artistic talent as well as to provide role models and positive alternatives to tagging,” said Franklin White, the MTA’s chief executive officer.
Contestants are being asked to submit proposals for murals and drawings created with ink, pastel, aerosol, airbrush, acrylic, watercolor or other materials. The deadline for presenting proposals is May 31. Information: (213) 244-7ART.
