ADAMSBURG, Pa. — A cemetery has agreed to allow a car lover to share his eternal parking spot with his beloved 1984 white Corvette.
The cremated remains of George Swanson will be buried Wednesday in the driver’s seat of his Corvette, which bears the license plate “HI-PAL.”
Swanson bought 12 burial plots at Brush Creek Cemetery to make sure that he would fit.
Swanson, 71, died on March 31. But officials at the cemetery, about 20 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, delayed his burial because they were worried about vandalism and did not want to offend other clients.
They finally relented after weeks of negotiations.
