ORANGE : Ex-L.A. Police Chief to Speak at Banquet

Former Los Angeles Police Chief Daryl Gates will be the featured speaker at the Orange Police Department’s annual Police and Fire Awards Banquet at 11:30 a.m. today.
The banquet is held each year to honor Orange police and fire employees who have demonstrated extraordinary service to their community. This year’s honorees include: Lloyd James, police officer of the year; Christine Huddleston, non-sworn employee of the year; and David Churnock, police explorer of the year. The Fire Department is recognizing all its employees for their efforts in extinguishing October’s Stagecoach and Laguna Beach fires.
Tickets are $15 and will be on sale at the door. The event will be at the Doubletree Hotel, 100 The City Drive.
