State Senate Panel Rejects Taco Bell Tax Break: The committee turned aside a measure that would have granted a 6% investment tax credit to Irvine-based Taco Bell and other companies if they expand or establish corporate offices in California. The Revenue and Taxation Committee defeated the bill, offered by Assembly Speaker Willie Brown, after several members expressed concern that it would cost the state too much revenue.
