Movie Firm Founded by Ex-Beatle Is Sold: HandMade Films, an independent movie producer co-founded by George Harrison, has been acquired by Paragon Entertainment Corp. for $8.5 million in cash. HandMade, founded in 1978 by Harrison and Denis O’Brien, made such films as Monty Python’s “The Life of Brian,” “Time Bandits” and “Mona Lisa.” Toronto-based Paragon is the executive producer of the upcoming Kevin Costner film “Wyatt Earp.” Paragon is acquiring 23 films in the deal. HandMade was advised by the Los Angeles law firm O’Melveny & Myers and Los Angeles investment banker Intermedia Film Equities.
