Otay Still a Hot Spot for Largemouth Bass
- Share via
The San Diego City Lakes’ reputation for largemouth bass has been overshadowed by Casitas and Castaic northwest of Los Angeles in recent years, but it was just like the good old days at Otay this past week.
Eleven catches from 11 pounds 3 ounces to 8-2 were reported for only three days of fishing at the southernmost of the San Diego lakes, just east of Chula Vista. Bill Murphy of El Cajon, using crawfish for bait, had an 11-3 largemouth in his limit of five totaling 35-2.
Most anglers fished from shore or float tubes.
