Late Spring Storm Moves Through Area

Parts of Thousand Oaks were drenched in a downpour while Camarillo and Oxnard barely got wet during a late spring storm that passed through Ventura County on Tuesday, authorities said. More rain is expected today.
“April showers are running a little late this year,” said Jerrett McFarland, a rain analyst for the Ventura County Flood Control Department.
A storm that swept through the county dumped 0.39 inch on Thousand Oaks, but spared Camarillo and Oxnard, which had no recorded rainfall, Jerrett said. Ventura and Santa Paula each received 0.04 inch of rain. Rainfall in Simi Valley measured only 0.08 and in Ojai 0.12 inch.
Clay Morgan, meteorologist for the National Weather Service, forecast more showers today, with a chance of thunderstorms in the mountains. He said he expects a few sprinkles on Thursday as well, with some sunshine returning by Friday.
“It’s just another one of those storms that comes out of the Gulf of Alaska and slowly tracks its way down the coast,” Morgan said. “The only thing wrong with this thing is that it’s about 30 days too late.”
