ROUNDUP : Canyons Loses Lead, Game, 8-5

Orange Coast College put together a pair of two-out rallies, scoring three runs in the fourth inning and four in the fifth, to defeat Canyons, 8-5, and oust the Cougars from the Southern California junior college softball regionals at Orange Coast College.
Canyons led, 5-4, entering the fifth, but April Crosby’s two-run double broke a 5-5 tie and gave Orange Coast (31-14) the lead for good.
Danielle Bragdon had two hits and a run batted in, and Christina Schlender added an RBI double for Canyons (23-17), which defeated Orange Coast, 4-3, in a regional opener Friday. Freshman Marianne Winchester (12-5) took the loss, allowing 11 hits and six runs while striking out two.
HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL
Avalon 12, Buckley 1--The Griffins lost their second game in as many days to host Avalon (12-0 in league play), which clinched the Liberty League title with the sweep of Buckley (15-5, 10-2).
Buckley was outscored by a combined 17-2 in the two games.
Canyon 7, Montclair Prep 6-Montclair Prep scored three runs in the seventh but stranded the tying run at second base in a nonleague loss. Andrew Miller had two hits, including his second home run of the season. Montclair Prep stranded 12 runners.
