Hijackers Rob Norwegians on Miami Hotel Bus

MIAMI — A hotel shuttle bus carrying five Norwegian tourists was hijacked Friday by two men who robbed the passengers of their jewelry and money.
Police said the hijackers, two “very well-dressed” black men in their 20s, boarded the bus with the Norwegians at Miami International Airport.
As the bus left the airport, one of the men pulled a gun and ordered the driver to head east on a nearby highway. The other man then robbed the tourists, police said.
One of the robbers punched a woman in the face, police Detective Marie Duboulay said.
“She did suffer minor injuries and she is OK,” Duboulay said.
The pair fled after ordering the driver to pull off the highway at the first exit.
The Norwegian consul in Miami said the visitors were robbed of jewelry, cash and some luggage. Two also lost their passports.
“This is a singular incident,” said Metro-Dade Police spokesman Steve Ellison. “We haven’t seen anything like this. It’s new to us totally, and we are taking measures at this point to try and counter it as best as possible.”
After meeting with police, the Norwegians later boarded a ship for a Caribbean cruise as planned.
