A bus rear-ended a pickup on Interstate 5 on Friday, causing minor injuries to three people.
A California Highway Patrol spokesman said that bus driver Arthur Frost, 37, was heading south on the freeway, just north of Crown Valley Parkway, in heavy traffic shortly before noon when the accident occurred.
“The driver of the bus said he was in stop-and-go traffic, going about 20 miles per hour. He went to hit the brake pedal and missed,” CHP spokesman Bruce Lian said.
The Orange County Transportation Authority bus slammed into the back of a pickup driven by Patrick Daley, 31, of Mission Viejo.
Daley complained of pain and was transported to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo. Two passengers on the bus who said they were hurt in the accident also were taken to the hospital.
CHP officers closed off the right lane on the freeway for about an hour. The freeway lane was reopened in time for the evening rush-hour traffic.
No citations have been issued.
