El Toro, Calvary Chapel Atop Brackets in Section Volleyball Playoffs

El Toro and Calvary Chapel are top-seeded in Division I and Division III of the Southern Section boys’ volleyball playoff pairings announced Monday.
El Toro (15-1), top-ranked in Orange County, has a first-round bye. The Chargers will play the Corona del Mar-Estancia winner in the second round May 17.
Laguna Beach (13-1), ranked second in the county and second-seeded in Division I, is home to Tustin (10-6), an at-large entry, in the first round at 7 p.m. Friday.
Marina (9-9) also has an at-large berth in Division I and will play third-seeded Los Angeles Loyola (17-1) in the first round Friday.
Esperanza (14-2), ranked fourth in the county, is third-seeded in Division II. The Aztecs play host to Redlands Arrowhead Christian (9-6) in the first round Friday.
Calvary Chapel (14-0), No. 6 in the county, has a first-round bye and will play the Pasadena Poly-San Marino Southwestern Academy winner in Round 2. Whittier Christian (12-3) is third-seeded in Division III and hosts Downey Pius X (8-5) in the first round Friday.
Los Alamitos (8-11) will play host to La Quinta (10-6) in a Division II wild-card match at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Finals in all three divisions are set May 28 at Cerritos College.

Garden Grove is seeded third and Marina fourth in the Southern Section Division I badminton pairings.
Ocean View (9-4) plays host to Costa Mesa (5-6) in a wild-card match at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The winner advances to the first round May 17 at Garden Grove (12-1).
Fullerton (7-8) plays host to La Quinta (5-5) in a wild-card match Wednesday. The winner advances to play Marina (14-1).
The finals are set May 25 at Cypress College.
