Biopool International Inc., a Ventura maker of test kits for diagnosing blood disorders, reported a $200,196 first-quarter profit compared with net income of $78,349 a year ago.
The company’s sales for the quarter that ended March 31 was $1.28 million, up 24% from $1.03 million in sales in the first quarter of 1993.
Biopool attributed the improved results to growth in its Swedish subsidiary, Biopool AB, which benefited from approval for insurance reimbursement of a test kit in Japan.
