Youth Center Opening Delayed

The opening of youth facilities at the Grand Olympic Auditorium have been delayed until the sports complex receives building permits to complete construction.
The newly refurbished Grand Olympic Sports Complex will house a boxing and fitness center for youths from the central city and was scheduled to open last month.
Boxing trainer Richard Allen, director of the Hoover Street Gym, is going to run the boxing program when the training gym and fitness center are completed.
“Everything has been delayed because of the earthquake,” said Allen. “It’s impossible to get a (building) inspector unless it’s related to earthquake damage. I expect the gym to be open in June or early July.”
