Pamela Sturgeon, a five-year member of the Centinela Valley Union High School District school board, said she will resign from her post next month.
Sturgeon said she plans to submit her resignation at a May 10 meeting. It is expected to take effect June 30.
Sturgeon, who was elected to a four-year term in November, said her husband is retiring and the couple will move to Las Vegas.
When she resigns, the board must decide whether to appoint a replacement until next year, hold a special election in November, or leave the position open. Board members said they will discuss the options when they receive a formal resignation.
