MOORPARK : 2 Seriously Hurt After Van Hits Pedestrians
- Share via
Two people were hospitalized in serious condition Monday after a woman lost control of her van while driving across a bridge in Moorpark, authorities said.
Fatin Hijaz, 20, of Moorpark was driving west on Tierra Rejado Road when she apparently lost control of the vehicle, crossed over to the eastbound lane, veered onto the sidewalk and hit two pedestrians, sheriff’s deputies said.
Hijaz’s vehicle then flew into the air and over an embankment before finally coming to rest at a nearby nursery, authorities said.
Hijaz and one of the pedestrians, Robert Lopez Sr., 46, of Moorpark, were taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center. Both were in serious condition, a nursing supervisor said.
The other pedestrian, Maria Hernandez, 16, of Moorpark, was taken to Simi Valley Hospital, where she was treated and released.
An investigation was continuing, authorities said.
