California Amplifier Loses $86,000 in 4th Quarter

California Amplifier Inc., a Camarillo maker of components for satellite and wireless cable systems, reported a loss of $86,000 for its fiscal fourth quarter, contrasted with a profit of $840,000 in the comparable period a year earlier.
The company said its earnings for the quarter that ended Feb. 26 were hurt by a $300,000 charge for a recent management restructuring, plus price competition and product mix. Revenue in the latest quarter was up 2%, to $10.6 million from $10.4 million a year earlier.
For its fiscal year that ended Feb. 26, California Amplifier saw its profit halved, to $1.56 million from $3.05 million in its prior fiscal year. Its latest fiscal-year revenue, however, increased 14%, to $40.7 million from $35.8 million.
