VENTURA : Board Approves New School Choice Policy
- Share via
The Ventura Unified School District board has approved a new school choice policy that will allow parents to send their children to any public schools in the district that have room.
Beginning this spring, parents will be able to apply to transfer their children from their neighborhood schools to any others in the district, if space is available.
Before the change in policy, parents had to show a compelling reason for a transfer, such as wanting their child to take a course not available at their neighborhood school.
But under the new rules, parents will be able to request a switch to another school without having to give a reason for the move.
Applications for transfers will be available at all district schools.
