Fortune Managing Editor to Retire: The magazine said that Marshall Loeb is retiring from the job after eight years when he reaches the company’s mandatory retirement age of 65 this month. The New York-based financial magazine, owned by Time Warner Inc., has named executive editor Walter Kiechel III to replace Loeb as managing editor. Loeb, who joined Time Inc. in 1956 as a writer for Time magazine, will become Fortune’s editor-at-large. Kiechel, 47, has spent his entire magazine career at Fortune. He joined Fortune in 1977 after serving as an officer in the Navy and attending a joint program of the Harvard Law and Business Schools. He was promoted to assistant managing editor in 1988 and was named executive editor in 1992.
