A 61-year-old Fontana man was arrested on suspicion of operating a motorboat while intoxicated after running his 32-foot fishing vessel onto McGrath State Beach, authorities said Saturday.
Sebastiano Terzoli was found slumped over the controls of the boat about 12:30 p.m. Friday, and Coast Guard officials said empty beer cans were scattered along the bottom of vessel.
Terzoli, who was not injured and was alone on the boat, was dragged onto the Oxnard beach by Coast Guard personnel and Ventura County sheriff’s deputies, authorities said.
After a medical examination at Ventura County Medical Center, Terzoli was booked into the Ventura County Jail, Lt. Gary Backman said. He posted $500 bail early Saturday morning.
“He was boating under the influence--how he ended up on the beach is mysterious,” said Coast Guard Fireman Timothy Giles.
Lynn’s Towing of Ventura was still trying to remove Terzoli’s boat, the Four 4 Brothers, from the beach Saturday afternoon.
