Why Not Offer a Few Good Excursions?

* Wouldn’t it be a natural tie-in for the Marine Corps Air Show and Amtrak to team up and alleviate some of the gridlock and dangerous freeway parking that prevails at air show time? Passengers could get off the train right at Irvine and take shuttles to the base. Of course, some tempting “excursion” rates would add to the attraction. Specials to the Angels games, with a station right in their back yard, would be a good promotion as would excursions to Disneyland, Del Mar races and the San Diego Zoo, and even the Renaissance Pleasure Faire in the other direction. It’s possible these package deals would make money for all concerned. Besides, the train ride is fun!
