COLLEGE BASEBALL : Nevada Moves Ahead of Titans in Standings

Nevada beat Cal State Fullerton, 5-2, Friday at Titan Field to take over first place in the Big West Conference baseball standings.

The Wolf Pack (33-7, 10-3) moved ahead of Fullerton (34-9, 11-4) by percentage points, with two games remaining in the three-game series.

Nevada jumped on starting pitcher Mike Parisi early, scoring a run in the first inning and four in the fifth.

Parisi, who shut out Pacific in his last start, gave up nine hits and walked one in 3 1/3 innings. Chad Rolish pitched 4 2/3 innings of shutout relief, and Dan Ricabal pitched a scoreless ninth inning for Fullerton.

Justin Drizos had two hits and two runs batted in, and Mike Schroeder three hits and two runs batted in for the Wolf Pack.

Nevada starter Bobby Post pitched seven innings and struck out two, giving up two runs on six hits.

The Titans’ Adam Millan had a two-run homer in the fifth inning.

The two teams play again at 3 p.m. today at Itan Field.
